A Brave New World: The Evolution of Diocesan Catholic Charities Activities
2013-2016

This fifth installment in my series of writings updates the evolution of an important part of our work over the last three years: the evolution of Diocesan Catholic Charities activities.

While the services, education and advocacy work of our nine agencies and two affiliates continue to be the “heart and soul” of Catholic Charities, dramatic changes in the external environment during this period have made the collective corporate activities of Catholic Charities even more important. Significant increases in regulatory requirements, unprecedented changes in Medicaid funding patterns, and the enhanced collaborative focus of the leadership team have changed the way Diocesan Catholic Charities does business.

It is the purpose of this installment to detail these major factors leading to change and analyze their impact on Diocesan Catholic Charities.
